He was awarded his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree in 2002 at the University of Birmingham and completed an externship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Illinois, Chicago and gained experience in Canada.
In addition, he holds Fellowships at both the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and the Faculty of Dental Trainers at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Richard is a Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery at the University of Leeds and an Honorary Consultant Oral Surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
His professional interests are wide-ranging, including being a reviewer for several academic journals and lecturing internationally.
His clinical areas of interest lie within dentoalveolar surgery, dental implantology and managing medically compromised patients.
Richard is an educator and provides mentoring to clinicians across the UK in oral surgery and is an Advanced Life Support Instructor and Provider for the Resuscitation Council UK. In addition to his clinical activity, Richard is currently studying for a PhD at the University of Leeds.
